Countdown To Federal E9-1-1 Legislation: Kentucky

Countdown to Federal E9-1-1 Legislation…

Are you prepared for when the new federal E9-1-1 legislation goes into effect this September? We will be discussing a different state every Thursday, so you can get the most up-to-date E9-1-1 information about your state’s requirements, what this means for you, and what you can do to become compliant. This week we are highlighting the state with an Unbridled Spirit, Kentucky.

Kentucky requires…

Residential private switch telephone service providers located in E911 capable areas must provide ANI and ALI data for each 911 call, and must provide ALI that includes the street address, plus an apartment number or floor, if applicable.  65.752 Statutes

All states require…

Kari’s Law was enacted in February 2018, and requires that all phones must be able to directly dial 9-1-1 without any additional digit, prefix, or trunk-access code beforehand, such as ‘9’. Also, the system from which 9-1-1 is dialed must provide a notification to a central location at the facility where the system is installed alerting another person or organization to the existence of an emergency call.

What this means for you and your business...

While Kentucky’s legislation targets residential establishments, it is important to note that coming legislation will likely dictate regulations that apply to both residential and business communication systems.  At RedSky, we think Kentucky’s step toward legislating E911 is commendable, however we believe that the protection Kentucky citizens enjoy at home must also translate to their place of work.  Whether that be in an office, cafe, or even working from home, more must be done to protect the workforce.  RedSky Technologies does exactly this for your company, so you can protect your employees, expand your business without boundaries, all while complying with state, and soon to be federal, legislation. Additionally, RedSky’s on-site notification technology will bring your company into compliance with Kari’s Law.
